Scott's Story

Life Since leaving Pleasant Hill, I went to Claremont Men's College for three years, played basketball there, then transfered to Stanford for two more years. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Management Engineering from Claremont and a Bachelor of Science from Stanford. Then I went to work for Advanced Micro Devices in Sunnyvale designing integrated circuits. I worked there for 7 years. During my time at AMD I met Jean Simonds and we were married. We have three kids, two girls and a boy. The boy is in the middle. My oldest daughter is 18 and is going to DeAnza College in Cupertino. My son is going to be a Junior in High School, and my youngest is going to be a freshman. After leav...Expand for more
ing AMD I moved to Penn Valley, in the Grass Valley/ Nevada City area (in the foothills above Sacramento). I now work for TDK Semiconductor, still designing Integrated circuits. On the side I helped found a non-profit Internet Service Provider; Nevada County Community Network, or NCCN. We started it over 5 years ago, and it is currently the largest ISP in our county. I sit on the Board of directors, and my Wife is running it. One last note...Mr. Hipple, our Chemistry teacher, retired to Grass Valley. He substitute teaches at our local High School. My oldest, who is now in college, and my son have both had him as a teacher. Mr Hipple is one of the most respected teachers in this area.
