Sean's Story

Born in Stafford, KS, but settled in Fort Worth at the age of 6 1/2, Sean D. Green, MSN APRN FNP-BC, grew up in TCU area of Fort Worth, Texas. During that time, he graduated from R.L. Paschal High School, and attended Texas Christian University briefly for 2 years while majoring in Art. After studying art and design in school while at Tarrant County College, Sean was hired for an in-house advertising agency position where he spent several years in the field of graphic design, digital imaging, and line-art. Fed-up with the politics and hostile environment after a year-and-a-half, it was at this time when Sean turned his attention to pursue a career in healthcare; specifically in the field of Nursing. Starting as a volunteer on Friday nights in the Emergency Department at Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital in Fort Worth, Sean quickly learned aspects of the Nursing role and functions of the department. In time, he would complete his undergraduate studies via night-school, and eventually be accepted into the Tarrant County College School of Nursing in January of 1995. After Graduating from Tarrant County College with an Associates Degree in Nursing in 1996, he immediately entered into work as a Nurse at Harris Methodist Southwest (Texas Health Resources) in Fort Worth, TX; working in virtually all areas of this hospital from the Emergency Room to the Medical/Surgical floor. During this time he advanced his proficiency in Nursing; eventually becoming a Charge Nurse, Certified in Chemotherapy Administration, and became a branch representative for the Institutional Review Board (IR...Expand for more
B) for Texas Health Resources where he served for approximately one year. Sean continued on his trek to become a Family Nurse Practitioner; returning to school earning both his Bachelor's (1998), then Master's of Science in Nursing (2004), from the University of Texas at Arlington. It was during these years that Sean was recognized with several awards for his scholastic achievements, as well as the prestigious "Great 100 Nurses of DFW" award in 2004. In early 2005, he was awarded with his Board Certification in Family Practice from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Since that time, Sean departed his long-standing hospital career at THR, and began his career working as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a Private Practice in Fort Worth, Texas, for several years, until late 2011; taking time off to spend time with his wife and family and pursue some personal goals in areas of mentoring students who were embarking on their careers in the Nurse Practitioner field. Likewise, Sean was a regular contributor to online professional forums and wrote several case studies for various professional sites. In March of 2013, Sean returned to the workforce; joining a home health company based in Fort Worth. Although readily busy with his patients, Sean also continues to be an active participant, writer, and moderator in many professional online groups, as well as an avid reviewer of current research and literature specific to the field of Nursing and Family Practice. He enjoys spending his spare time with family and friends, and plays a variety of instruments in his music studio.
