Shannon's Story
Life
I was only at NISH for the last six weeks of Junior year and finished high school with the class of 1981, but I enjoyed New Iberia Senior High so much. It was the first Co-Ed Highschool I had been to in Louisiana! After graduation, I went to S.L.U. in Hammond, then later to U.N.O. and Delgado Junior college. I never finished college but I obtained a certification in Medical Coding, which I haven't used YET! I married Louis Carter in 1988, we have 2 kids Lee 18, and Lacy who is 15! We spent 16 years in Niceville, Florida, where we were very happy. Louis" job at Eglin AFB ended last year so we moved to Prattville Alabama from June 2066 till August 2007! Now we are back home in Niceville for good and Louis will retire in 2008 when he turns 50! We are happy to be home again & are glad to be able to stay in this area for a long time. People always say you can't go home again, but I know firsthand that you indeed can!!
School
My biggest crush was John, my boyfriend who I spent 7 years with. He was very kind, considerate, and romantic,to this day we are great friends. We fell in love fast and hard, but we weren't ma...Expand for more
ture enough to handle marriage. When I was 24, I met this really cute guy named Louis Carter thru his cousin Tommy, who I was dating at the time. Louis was pretty quiet, but 3 days later, he showed up at my job, he was dressed really cute!!! He asked me out & we've been together ever since. He is my true love!!!! Anyone that sees you give birth twice, & still says you're beautiful is worth keeping around!!! I have also grown to appreciate humor in our lives, as we both have gone through the deaths of our mothers in December 2007. Horrible timing but we stand strong together as we face life after our mom's deaths. My mom was great, I just wish I had enjoyed being her daughter longer than the last few years she was alive!
College
My college years were from 1981-1987. I went to three different colleges in that time, all in Louisiana. Graduating from them was not a top priority, so I never finished! In 2003, I decided to embark on getting certified as a Medical Coder, which I finally did in December 2003, 22 years after graduating high school. Now does anyone know a hospital that needs a coder? I nedd a job!!! LOL!
