Shannon's Story

Life I actually married. I knew when I met my husband, Wallace, in 1990, that he was the one. We married in 1991. We have three children, Alexandra, 18, Tyler, 16, and Angelica, 15. We just celebrated our 20th Anniversary. What a ride it has been. My husband did well. He designed a platinum ring with 22 diamonds: 21 years for the time we have known each other and 1 to grow on. We live in Friendswood. We sold our old house which was on two acres and have moved back into a neighborhood. I remember why I left a neighborhood: I don't like the whininess of neighbors. They are just entirely too concerned with what's happening in my life. On the other hand, if you have something to discuss, have the guts to come to me and not to someone else. It's cowardly to gossip. I volunteer with a few different organizations. I am involved minorly in politics. Everyone keeps telling me to run for office, but realistically, I'm too blunt for the political spotlight. I've been known to call a spade a shovel. I also don't have the patience to pussyfoot around with "political correctness." My husband is a mechanical engineer. We've started and are running two companies now. It is going well. We stay entirely too busy, but who doesn't. I never thought of myself as a being able to run a business, but life is about adapting. God lights the path and you just have to follow it. I seem to always have some sort of injury. When people see me now and I don't have some sort of medical apparatus, it's more of a shock than when I do. Let's just say that when my husband left the pit of hell he worked in, we kept the insurance. COBRA is expensive, but worth every penny in my family. I joined the Texas Army National Guard. Every one thinks I've lost my mind, but I feel at peace with this decision and very proud. I love the new digitized uniform. I still love to have a good time. That part of me will never change. I believe that if God didn't want us to have a drink at least every now and then, Jesus' first miracle would not have been turning water into wine. :) April 7, 2011: No much has changed since my last post. I have 3 teenagers driving. I am active in pretty much the same things. My brother-in-law, Henry Trochesset, is running for Sheriff, so that is taking a lot of my time. My oldest girl graduates this year. I an trying to wade through all of those issues. My son is a jock and I love football. My youngest daughter is crazy smart and is a swimmer. We keep busy. The businesses have been growing. God has been very good to us over the years. I truly believe that He has put obstacles in my path and granted many blessings. I am fortunate to be able to provide for a lot of people and situations. All that I have came from Him, so I have to assist where I can. Enough preaching. As you may or may not know, my brother Terry passed away a few years ago. I miss him. My Uncle Patrick ...Expand for more
passed away as well. However, my family has grown. I found my Dad's first daughter many years ago. We formed a bond over the years. And by extension, I have her sisters as my sisters and her brothers as my brothers as well. Last year I was able to throw a 70 year party for my Dad on a party barge and all of his family came. It was amazing. Seeing your 70 year old parents pole dance can be disturbing though. We also had a 70th party for my mother in law. I little more subdued but 150 came to show their love for her. We took a cruise in January with some family and friends. It was so much fun. There are things that happened on the boat that should stay on the boat. That's it for now. Last, but not least: I believe in God and Jesus Christ. School I'm not sure I would choose to do it over. If I had to, I would be more involved in school instead of other "outside activities." I will say that there were some fun times. I first have to apologize to all those in Mr. Bailey's class for the tear gas incident. I was dared. What can I say. I do have to thank Mr. Bailey for giving me a love of current events and politics. All in all, Mr. Bailey was a very tolerant teacher. We put that poor man through so much. Fuddruckers. Does that ring a bell for anyone? Remember Justin Carr and that chemistry teacher, Ms. Andrea Davidson, after Mr. Banowsky left to do cancer research in 9th grade? As uptight as she was, that incident was probably the only time anyone ever dropped their drawers for her. Sorry about the fire y'all. I know Mrs. Darling tried to teach us a love of literature, but I still believe that black means black and there is nothing to read into it. I also remember being in attendance office and watching the shuttle disintegrate before my eyes and not comprehending it. I understand what the generation before us meant when they said they knew where they were when Kennedy was killed. I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, but I'll always remember that moment. I look back on those years and have a lot of regrets. Having said that, those experiences made me what I am today. They have also made me a better parent. There isn't much that my children can do to shock me. Workplace After high school, I went to work for several attorneys. When I became pregnant after a year of marriage, I quit work. I stayed home and babysat for a few years and worked in the children's pre-school as well. When they all entered school, I started to substitute. I have since joined the Texas Army National Guard, and my husband and I started two companies. We keep busy. Military Let's just say that my name was Momma T in BCT, and in every class in MOS training, I was the oldest. I took a lot of crap, but those little girls were surprised that I rocked on obstacle courses, could kick "a" in hand to hand and outsmarted everyone in classwork. Not bad for an old woman.
