Shannon Jorgenson:

CLASS OF 1966
Roseburg, OR

Shannon's Story

After high school, I went to the U of O and got a BS degree. Then it was off to Los Angeles for a year of laboratory training in cytotechnology. Moved back to Eugene and worked in a lab for three, boring years and decided I wanted to be a social worker, instead. Eventually got my MSW degree at Portland State in 1988. Married my boss, Jim, in 1978 and we had three boys--David, now 31, and Mark & Andy (twins), now 28. Andy is married and has blessed us with a wonderful daughter-in-law and the cutest grandkid that ever walked this earth! We've lived in Salem for the past 25 years and have a "farmette" in the country. I work as a medical social worker in a small community hospital near Salem, and love my job. , but it's not in the near future (thanks to the necessity of health insurance). Hobby-wise, I still do a lot of gardening and floral arranging. I continue to play the flute, and have been a member of the Salem Concert Band for 20+ years. I babysit my grandson one day a week, and we have lots of fun together. I try to stay physically fit and take PE classes at our local community college. My mother is still living in Roseburg and will be 100 on her next birthday! I spend time going down to see her and another elder family member to assist with them staying as independent as possible. I can relate to being in the "sandwich generation". All in all, I feel really blessed. Life has been good. I look forward to reconnecting with high school classmates.
