I spent my childhood in Washington Grove and Montgomery Village. My father had a dental practice in Gaithersburg. I attended Washington Grove Elem, Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village Jr Highs, and Gaithersburg High School.. After graduation I attended BYU - Hawaii for two and a half years studying English and TESL and working as an usher for the night show at the Polynesian Cultural Center. I loved Laie, and BYU-H, but felt drawn to come home and prepare to serve for a time as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. While preparing to leave for my assignment in Bolivia, I met a young man from Indiana, and knew he was the one I would marry. The feeling was mutual and so I changed directions again. We've been married for 35 years, have lived in Indiana, North Carolina (OBX), and several places in Utah, finally settling in a beautiful little town, near Provo, called Mapleton, where we have a small goat dairy/ petting farm for grandchildren and neighborhood kids.
