Shari's Story
Life
I've been married for 12 and 1/2 years (we met on a blind date). I have two boys, ages 18 and 10. The oldest one graduates from New Pal in May. I have a German Shepherd named "Lady."
School
High school was great. I would definitely do it all over again. My biggest crush was on a boy who will remain nameless. We became the best of friends and actually did date for awhile. We used to talk on the phone until 2 or 3am almost every night. I lost contact with him after graduation. As far as the funniest and happiest memories: there's so many of them I can't list them. As for the craziest memory: it had to be when myself and a few friends took a joy ride in a car (we only had our learner permits). Before we could really enjoy the ride, we wrecked the car into a fence on a country road. We ended up at the old quarter was in Cumberland trying to get the weeds and dirt washed off. Thank the good Lord that no police stopped or we would've gotten busted for breaking curfew. The car belonged to the parents of a girl who was staying with one of the friends in the car. She lived in Mighigan (Detroit area) and her mom just figured that someone keyed the car. To my knoweledge, no one's parents ever knew.

th Karen Plummer all four years. We had a blast. As a matter of fact, we were just reliving those days through pictures recently. Our dorm food wasn't bad. I only had to deal with it for two years, as I moved into an off-campus house for the last two years (215 N. Dill St.; definitely a "Party House"). I had a lot of those caffeine-fueled nights but if I had to drag myself to class, it was because of partying too late not because of studying too much!!
Workplace
I knew when I was six years old that I wanted to be a nurse. I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant right after high school. I came home from college every other weekend to work (that was my spending money). After college, I stayed with the same long-term care company until 1994, going from Cert. Nursing Assist. to Qualified Medication Aide to Registered Nurse to management. Then, I ventured into the world of hospital nursing for 5 years. During those 5 years, I worked as a floor nurse and also in management as a Clinical Educator. Now I'm back to my love for the elderly. I am an Assistant Director of Nursing at a facility on the southside of Indy. It's very rewarding to know that I make a difference in so many lives, but management definitely has it's ups and downs.
