Sharon's Story
Life
After high school I attended Compton JC during the summer and then attended Cal State Long Beach. I married Danny Basham to whom graduated with us (he was in the marching band). His brother Mack Basham also graduated with our class (he ran track). Danny joined the Navy as the first from Compton to qualify for the Nuclear Power program. We had 3 kids. We divorced in 1987.
I worked for LAUSD as an Administrative Asst., owned my own business (Secretarial Service) went into business with another graduate of Compton H.S. selling African American Art, Gifts & Collectibles. I'm now retired from LAUSD and have my own Medical Billing service. I'm also in business with one of my daughter's selling baby gift baskets.
I got started in the medical field back in 1972 at CAl State Long Beach and went to work at the VA Hospital in Long Beach where I specialized in spinal cord...Expand for more
injuries.
While traveling in the military with Danny, I worked in nothing but medical but when we got divorced, I returned to Compton and went to work for LAUSD.
I'm a grand mother of six! My oldest daughter have twin girls and give birth to a baby boy on Nov. 15, 2001 and my second daughter have 3 boys. My youngest child is 28 yrs. old and was married on August 14, 2004. They are expecting their first child on March 26, 2008. It's a boy! They could not wait!
For the most part, I'm happy and still working for a better future. Just in case you don't remember me, I ran for student body vice-president in our senior year. Larry Turner was my partner (he ran for student body president) and we had all the TWITTY BIRD and SILVESTER posters all over the school during our campaign!
I reside in Chino Hills,California and most of the time, I'm traveling and enjoying life.
