Sharon's Story
I attended McNally HS from 68-70. I quit school in April 1970, gr. 12, and did not graduate.. The reason is obvious if you check out my profile- My eldest dayghter turned 40 in July! I married Bob Guzak on Apr 18, 1970, while in grade 12. You would think "no way will that ever have worked out!" and in most cases you sould be right! But God was gracious, and Bob stood beside me as we travelled a hard but happy road. We had 5 biological children, and in 1989 we adopted 4 sisters from Brazil (ages 6-12yrs)! We had only 1 son, and no, he wasn't the last one ,He was 4th in line of the biological children and ended up 5th in the blended family. Needless to say, he is adored by his sisters, and knows WAY too much about women! He lives in Oklahoma with his wife and 3 sons (I guess God figured he deserved a break!) and with his degree in computer engineering, has risen to manager of Cougar tools head office in the USA.
Our 8 daughters have careers in teaching, nursing, EMT, business ownerships, and clerical work. They all live in Edmonton, as we do.
Bob and I have enjoyed 40 yrs of marriage and we retired from the oil well servicing business (Crown Well ServicingLtd.) in Aug. 2003. The main reason we retired was so Bob could concentrate on looking after me, as I have a number of medical issues.
We have travelled several times to Mozambique, living in the bush with our missionary friends, helping out with whatever we could. We have also travelled to South America. Central America ,Africa,Scotland, and many times to various spots in the US. (I especially love Hawaii, specifically Maui & Kawaii.)
We became Christians in 1980, without knowing that anyone else had or was Born-again in our family.. It all came out when Bob responded to an alter call in a full gospel church. I revealed that I had made a decision to follow Christ only a few weeks before with a friend. Then our eldest daughter told us of her commitment 2 months previous! Bob's parents came home from a vacat...Expand for more
ion and had also given their lives over to Jesus! Pretty much all of the family became Christians within the next few months! It was amazing, although we didn[t realize how unusual that was until years later! We still attend Richfield Christian fellowship be it by internet when I can't make it and in the flesh when I can.
We have had many exciting experiences (Bob once flew a Cessna 182 all the way to Mozambique! He had so many adventures, it would take way too much time, so I'll let him tell it in the book he's writing- including his being held hostage by the military in the Congo, escaping from a massive fire in the African bush, encountering an anti-terrorist leader who also kept him for 2 days in his country, etc.) He has had his pilots licence for over 3 decades.
We have faced many of lifes challenges together.
We have 17 grandchildren to date, and expect one or two more yet to come.
I have worked at the Uof A Hospital as a unit clerk for 3 yrs, ran a day home for who knows how many years (lots!), designed and sewed wedding gowns and formal wear , volunteered at every school my children attended as special needs aid, and general mom-type stuff church work,, and lastly as co-owner of Crown Well, Venture Oilfield Supplies, a snubbing business Bob started up,& partnered with Tartan oilfield supplies.I also took bible school coursesfor several years at Temple Bible College.
These days we invest in our children's ventures into the business world, and Bob is on and has been on many boards in the oilpatch and in charity work.
I have kept in touch with a few high-school friends for the past 41 years and count myself very blessed to call them my friends.
I would love to hear from the people we knew in school and encourage you to send me a message, anytime.
Thank-you for checking into my site. I consider it a priviledge to be able to reconnect with past friends and acquaintances.
