Sharon's Story

Life I married a guy from my church and we are in our 45th yr. now. We had two children, a girl and boy, and now have 4 grands. (Aren't they great?) Five years ago we sold our house and moved into our RV and we travel extensively, coming home about 4 times a year for family and friend visits. > I'm a published writer now, and also an editor of books and websites. > I still love the Lord and He is the only one in the world who has never let me down. Human relationships, even in marriage, fail...on occasion. One thing I recently learned about marriage is that you can never quit working on it or it will die. I wish I had waited before I married so young. I only got one semester of college in. That was a big mistake. I wonder what would have happened if I had waited? I got what I wanted though...which was to be a good wife and mother. That is the greatest fulfillment in life and our kids and all of our grandkids turned out very well because I was a full-time mom. At times my husband worked two and three jobs, but we made it. I've accomplished a great deal in my life, both as a Christian and a woman. I've taken 12 correspondence courses and am preparing to take more. Learning is awesome...and the net is more awesome. I'm on it every time I get the chance. (I think they call that addiction.) Much of my life has been spent counseling hundreds of teens. I remember when I was a kid going thru puberty. Almost killed myself at age 13 because Johnny Hamilton jilted me. lol What a jerk. Tried to rape me, actually. (...Expand for more
You listening, Johnny?) But that taught me so much. I remember thinking, at age 13, "No matter how old I get, I will always understand what it's like to be a kid and I will try to help other kids get through life." And so I still am. I counsel on a youth site called YBX. Boy are they tough ones. But I'm making headway over time. And that's what kids take......time....and love. Lots of both. I've made zillions of contacts on the net and I enjoy writing in the forums. Particularly enjoy bringing up debatable issues. (Now why do I do that? Psychologists...tell me that.) I'm sitting on Southport Rd. in my RV right now...in my son's driveway. We have been home since Christmas, checking our weary bodies in for new parts and replacements. Lots of therapy. Thirty-eight years of my life has been spent in illness and pain. Big deal. I wouldn't trade my probs for yours...whatever they are. Each of us is allowed to experience the things that make us grow and mature the most. If you knew me in H.S., you knew I was a devout Christian, and I still am. I used to think it was the answer to everything...and I still do. Not much change there. Bonnie Hanks and I used to run around together all the time and we are still best friends. I wonder about the rest of you. And I keep looking for our politician class president, John Price, to dream up a class reunion, but methinks this is in vain. CLASS REUNION.......if you ever have one, please invite me. On the net I am known as Easterdeb. God bless and hugs to all.
