Sharon Storm:

CLASS OF 1966
Summit argo, IL

Sharon's Story

Hi all You Argonauts, Time sure flies after graduation. Ha, what am I talking about - time sure flies after retirement. I don't know how we got anything done while working. My days are so full starting with 2 hours of exercise in the morning (most days) except Sundays. I will be married 35 years come November. I have 8 beautiful grandchildren; 6 boys and 2 girls. My children range from 50 years of age to 29 years. Yes, I was child when I had my first. LOL My two stepsons moved in as teenagers 3 months after we were married and I had two daughters. They all went to college with one being a lawyer, two in business and one in fashion. The grandchildren range from 18 to 1. Sports keep us on the go not only by participating but also by being a spectator for the kids. I've been retired almost two years after getting credit for 30 years of teaching physical education. I truly loved my job - not all of the principals - but I did love getting up and going to work. I coached for five years while teaching in Middle School, but after having my first daughter I taught elementary school until retirement. I've lost both of my parents (2005 and 2008) and you only know that pain if you live with that loss. I remain close to my 3 sisters which I thank God for making that possible. I've helped with the reunions for several years. There is a lot of good help out there If you would only volunteer. And, it is funny because I review your addresses and high school pictures and I feel like I remember many of you. The next reunion won't be until 2016. It will be our 50th. We have lost several classmates but I guess we never know what life holds for us. If you haven't been to a reunion please think about joining us in 2016. We are just people who knew each other 50 years ago. If you think we should get together in 2011 (our 45th) let me know and if there are enough of us we should make the effort. Also, if you know of someone that has been put on the lost list let me know who and where they are. I'll do my best to keep the mailing list updated. Likewise, if you have moved let me know where you are so we can keep you informed. So, eat healthy, exercise and have a drink on me!! Hi Everyone, I thought I would let you know what is going on with the Class of '66 Reunion. I did not receive many new addresses this past year so I hope we can find our classmates at the addresses I have. I will be looking for a venue starting in May. I'll be visiting places near Argo thinking that someplace "back home" might draw out some of those that still live in our high school neighborhoods. If there is someplace you want me to check out please let me know and if there is a place YOU want to check out also let me know. Yes I know there are some great places in Hawaii, but .............. I have over two hundred addresses but I do not know how many are correct. So, I need for each of you to private message me telling me if you would attend the 50th year reunion August or September of 2016 AND please send me your address. I am sorry that a date has not been chosen, but those are the two months that we have had the reunions in the past. Also, tell me your interests as far as food. Would you like a nice sit down meal or would you like substantial appetizers allowing for more "mingling". Both would include a cash bar. And last, please let me know if you would be able to help with the mailing, souvenirs, decorations, music (preferably a Pandora or the like and speaker - restaurant or otherwise), name tags and program, and advertising ~ NOT NECESSARILY IN THAT ORDER. I would like your address ~ your answer about attending ~ food interest ~ and if you can help ~ all sent back to me by the end of May (yes, 2015). Please spread the word to anyone from our class. Hope all is well with you, Sharon/Shay Hi again ~ There are many many problems for me with Classmates.com. I do not know if any of you are having problems too. I cannot read any of my messages or see who has visited my page. Quickly, not many people have responded to wether or not they can or might be able to attend the reunion. Also, It was suggested to find a venue near Midway. That way if you are flying in, the location would be near, rooms would be available in the hotel of choice and others that are still in the area would not have a long drive. Someone from Class of '65 stepped up and is looking into getting information from Carl Metz to see if they might try to contact their classmates. Nothing is definite at this time. I have contacted Classmates.com three times now -over a month without the tech team fixing the problem - if you are on Facebook (I am) you can contact me there or contact someone that you know that is getting my notes. Hope to be in touch with some definite news. Spring is finally here - enjoy the weather and take care!! Sharon/Shay Hey Peeps I have a Reunion Update: Save the date -September 17th or 24th 2016. Claude Hettinger and i have visited 6 venues so far. The ones by Midway are out of our price range as well as William Tell in Countr...Expand for more
yside. All beautiful - all great places - but pricey! We are going to make this a two day event with a tour of ACHS on Friday and the Reunion on Saturday. You can do both days or just one - your choice. That being said we are choosing a venue 5-10 miles from Argo. Also, please check the group messages cause we will need volunteers to decorate and I need to find someone who can make a loop with pictures to project on a screen. Think about your talents and how you can help. I'll be in touch. Not sure about the class of '65 but I have a message out asking that question. Until next time ........... Hey Peeps I'm back!!! Everything seems to falling in place for the Reunion. Now, all we need is for you to say you will be there. SAVE THE DATES!! We have decided on a venue and dates for our Reunion events and the contract is signed. The dates are: tour/visit Argo Community High School on September 16, 2016 with a social hour or two after the tour and the Reunion is September 17, 2016 at Royalty West in Willow Springs. It is handicap accessible, we will be serving substantial appetizers, there will be a cash bar and plenty of time to mingle, reconnect and dance. Please spread the word to any and all of the ACHS Class of '66 friends you are still in touch with, then start saving your $$$ so you don't miss this REUNION. (they require a minimum of 70) I am excited just telling you about it. I need your address if you think the one I have is old. I am also on Facebook (Sharon (Janecko) Storm - just private message me on Classmates or Facebook. I'll be in touch ............................. Hi Everyone, I am happy to tell you that the Class of '65 will be invited to the Reunion celebrating their 50th, one year late, with us. It will be good to get together again. I've asked about addresses and now I am in the process of typing new address labels. Please send me your address if it has changed within the last 10 years or if you have not received an invitation in the past. All reservations for this Reunion will be done through "snail mail" prior to the Reunion. If you have remained at the same address you are good - pass the word and thank you for your co-operation!! Hey Peeps just 7 1/2 months to go ... then we pArTy!! Everything is pretty much as I have told you. I have completed the mailing labels SO IF I DO NOT HAVE A NEW ADDRESS FOR YOU, OR ANY ADDRESS FOR YOU PLEASE SEND IT ASAP. I am looking for someone from our class that is a photographer enthusiast - someone who has a good camera, is willing to bring it to the Reunion, and take the group picture and be able to email me the picture (we can talk) Next I am looking for someone to make a 4X7 book that would include names of who attended, state they live in and their email address. I would like the front to be the same picture as our Senior Class yearbook, and include details of the 50th year reunion. (we can talk). And then I am looking for someone to come up with some creative awards OR raffle prizes to pass out during the evening. I will take care of the souvenirs. So those of you who offered to help, this is where you are needed and if you haven't volunteered yet please step up cause time will fly and I know there are creative juices out there - I don't mean the wine - and bottom line I need your help and we want to make this a memorable evening!! Thank you ahead of time. Hey Peeps, Hope all is well with you, hope you are enjoying this nicer weather and hope you are getting excited about the Reunion. - 5 months to go. Only one or two more updates are left and this one is to let you know that the invitations will go out at the end of the month. If I have your address you do not have to respond. However, there are some of you who did not send an address. You may have given me a new state but not an address and I certainly do not want you to be left out. This is my last request for addresses - you can private message me with yours. Looking forward to seeing you in September!!! Honored Guests, A.C.H.S. Class of '66 invitations are out. Please check your mailboxes (ACHS is printed on the return address label - my married name is Storm - this is not JUNK MAIL) Please return the reservation portion of the invitation with your payment by June 20, 2016. Looking forward to seeing you! MAKE NEW FRIENDS,BUT KEEP THE OLD - SOME ARE SILVER AND THE OTHER GOLD, Sharon Great News!! Responses are coming in almost daily for the A.C.H.S. Class of '66 and '65 50th Year Reunion. If you have not turned in your response you have 20 days so please fill out your response part of your invitation, include your email address and send your check. I'll be watching the mail!! I'm Back Again, Just want to tell all of you who plan on doing the tour of Argo on September 16th at 6:00 that we are meeting by the front entrance. However, the front entrance is not the same as when we were in school. For the past three years it has bee on the West side of the building on 74th Ave. There is plenty of parking so I'll see you there.
