Sharon's Story
Hmmm. I landed in Ann Arbor, MI about 40 minutes from Detroit. After high school, I lived with my boyfriend-at-the-time, Mark Goldberg, for a few years and then began traveling when I was 19 or 20 years old. First to England and then to Japan where I lived for three years. My son, Yuki, who is 23 years old is half-Japanese. Then we went to India and lived for 3 years. I was very much into meditating. Always with a spiritual slant to my life. Started going to college when I was 34 years old and my son was 5 years old. ferent from when I was in high school and not focused at all. I transferred to Stanford University as an English Major with a writing emphasis. I knew that I wanted to go to medical school. Because of all of my meditation, I really felt that I wanted to help others. I still do. However, I had to take some time off because I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer - Stage IA (so not so serious) but I am now reapplying to residency programs. I met my life partner, John Connell, just when everything started to get difficult for me professionally (and personally). He has been a wonderful support and best friend.
