Sharon's Story

Life My Spouse I met Lance while visiting my cousin 6 months after graduating. My Kids My Daughter is a Pharmacist but has retired and now lives next door to me. She is also one of my best friends. Some of what we have done. When we were first married I was a young housewife. Then LindaLee was born in 1963 and I became a mom too she has been a treasure. We lived in Glendora til 1969 when we moved to WA State a longtime dream of Lances since he lived on Whidbey Island in WA for a while as a child. We had a small camper factory after we moved here then opened a cabinet shop and Lance owned the cabinet shop from 1971 til 2000 when we sold it and opened the winery. From 1980 to 1992 I owned a small waterbed store and computer software store that shared space. In 1991 I closed the store to become the contractor for the Victorian style house that we built and finished in the summer of 1996. At that time we were making fruit wines and decided to open the winery which took 4 years to finish. My life now. Lance and I own a small winery its been our semi-retirement. Its been fun and people enjoy our wines. We make a lot of fruit wines and have a small vineyard. The sad thing is that Lance has been diagnosed with mild Alzheimer's so I am not sure what the future holds.. I had to place Lance in an Alzheimer's care facility last fall, so I am working on moving forward with the Winery and making a life for myself that is quite different. Lance has been losing weight and declining the past few months. I am a member of Facebook with all of my relatives...Expand for more
where we keep in touch and share pictures and play games such as scrabble. I also read fiction. My grandson Adam is 22 months old now and is talking quite a bit hes very computer savvy already and shows me things on Skype and tells me things. I love being a Grandma :). I plan on going to the 55th class reunion in 2014 and hope to see a lot of you there. Sept 29th I will do the walk to End Alzheimer's in Sequim, Wa. I am going to classes and learning about Alzheimer's research. This is a cause that is important to work on. Over 6 million people in the US have Alzheimer's and the ages range from the 40s up. Over 800,00 people with Alzheimer's live at home alone with no care and are at risk, another person develops Alzheimer's every 68 seconds. An update to my story. My husband Lance passed away from Alzheimer's on November 4, 2013. I am moving forward with life. I am enjoying my grandson Adam and spending more time with him and my daughter and son in law. They will be moving over here soon and am looking forward to that time. I am working on my families ancestry more now its very fascinating and can be time consuming. Dec. 30 2015 Linda Lee, Paul and Adam moved over here and live 300 feet away. Its great having them here. I moved up the the first house Land and I built and they moved into the Victorian style house we built in the 90's its so nice having them next door now. Both of my parents passed this year and I had a small breast cancer episode last spring. I am hoping to have a brighter year in 2016 with some kind of travel.
