Sharon (Ricki)'s Story
Well, I married Tom Brown right out of school just about. we had two children, Tracey, 45Erik, 43..I still try to keep in touch with my first husband, Tom, who is class 1963 Lyman Hall. We have always been friends. Erik is still with me as his house is next door.He was in the Navy during Gulf Conflict and received many awards. He is very talented and works at a Federal Installation as a Surveyor. He has one daughter, Haley, 18. I lived about everywhere before marrying my present love of my life, another Tom, deWerdt. We have been married almost 20 years! Far too many places and adventures to list here. I have four more kids, all grown. Shawn, 36, GA, has two gorgeous children, Macy 10 and Barrett, 8: Rebekah and Lizzy, 26, identical twins, both in music and living in Nashville, no kids or husbands. And my baby boy, Drum, 25, has one boy, 2 years old. They are all beautiful and the love of my life. I live in the boonies of SC and though I would rather be in New Mexico or Arizona, I am happy here. we have quite a bit of acreage and use to have fiber goats, pigs, etc. when I lived in GA., I raised and trained horses, lived on a huge farm and did all things farm. Even drove log trucks and tractors. In the past I have been, Surgical TEchnician,upstate NY, Medical TEchnician, Dialysis Tech, ER TEch, Emergency Med. TEch, Enviromental Tech, Computer Tech, I taught at a Junior College, (med tech)and was Director of Medical Studies. I attended MCG Medical College as a ParaMedic, and was attended Truett McConnell for core for nursing school. I worked almost 25 years in the health fields before settling down as Asst. Enviromentalist for Boardman Pet. Ill health forced me to retire early.
While attending Housatonic College as a Medical Technician, I worked in one of my favorite jobs, bartending! I met more people and had more fun without having to spend any money, protected by the bar and earned a good amount. Didn't even have to drink. I don't smoke or drink Liquor, although once in a while I will have a lite...Expand for more
beer or Ice. I wanted to be an Archeologist with Anthropology minor, but with two kids to support it would have taken too long. I still would like to travel everywhere, and if I make it to my husbands retirement, and still have some good health, we are planning on doing that. Although my husband says he cannot get me out of the house now. House meaning all of our property. My faithful companion is a dog named TakaBella and she is the pride of my life. She is old too, and in mourning as we just lost her little friend ChiChi 6/26. He was with us 12 years. She is 11 and I hope she lives as long or longer than me. Well I cannot think of much else, I have done more and been many places but I won't bore you with them. I still love the Southwest like I said, and wish we could have moved there. We did almost move to Australia, but .....
As far as hobbies.My FAV is and was scubadiving. I am a certified Advanced Diver. Was training to be a divemaster because with my EMT certification I could have moved to the Caribean such as Little or Big Cay and lived happily forever after. I LOVE horses, though right now I don't have any. I LOVE to sew,quilting and fashion, Machine embroider, machine knit, scrapbook, work with wood, reborn dolls, make cloth dolls, I have a craft building that is full of machines, fabric, tools, doll parts, clay, etc. I can hardly move in there, and when our new little cottage is finished, hubby will add an addition for my craft room. probably 15 x 20 to be the way I want. We sold both of our houses, in GA and FL, and moved to our land here in SC, and I said I want a beautiful little cottage but NOT so big all I do is housework. After living with 9 kids, (his, mine, ours, one runaway and one throwaway), and owning two four bedroom houses at the same time, I have had enough housework to last for a century. Its all I can do to move around these days, and I would rather spend time doing something else!
