Sharon's Story
Most of the time I was a government worker. I worked for the state of illinois for 9 years, the federal government for 9 years, the state of south dakota for 3 years and contracted out to the state of south carolina for 3 years. The state of south carolina laid off all its contractors in 2001 or 2002, so I moved here in 2003 and have been in Ocala, florida ever since. The work situation is not good here, but the weather is great and the town is really nice. I never married, met mr wrong never mr right. I aam an aunt 8 times over and a great aunt to 15, so I don't feel too bad about not having any kids of my own. I am going back to school and enjoying it. I spend most of my free time around people older than me, alot of my friends here are in their 70's or 80's. Nice people. I do taxes for H&R block during tax season - I'll be starting my 5th year in january. I wish that I could say I had done something exciting, but mostly I just concentrated on work and my family and pets. Currently I have two older cats that are mine and 4 foster kitten...Expand for more
s that are in need of a home (OK maybe only 3 need homes). My older sister lives in Wisconsin, but we talk on the phone alot, my brother (david) lives near Chicago and we don't talk very often. He's upset with me, but hopefully will want to communicate sooner or later. I have lived in alot of places and remember that as a young girl I used to practice packing my suitcase. My mother would ask me why I was packing and I told I needed the practice - I was right. Even now, there are more places that I wouldn't mind seeing. I like having a home, but don't feel compelled to spend all of my time there. I hope to someday be able to get short term contracts in new places and then come back to my home in ocala. That I would enjoy. I used to be a programmer and am going for a computer science degree to update my resume and maybe even get a certification or two in the mean time. Hopefully this is not just a pipe dream, tho at my age who knows. I'll keep positive thoughts and keep studying. I feel the need for at least one more good programming job.
