Sharon's Story
Yikes! Where have all the years gone? Like everyone else, my life has been a series of ups and downs, happiness mixed with sadness. I'vee been married and divorced and married again. Too many people I love are gone and as the minutes, hours, days, months and years inexorably pass faster and faster, I appreciate the precious moments so much more than I did 38 years ago.
I'm married to a great guy, Bruce Carlson, and we have five wonderful sons and five adorable grandchildren. Bruce and I lived many years in Fresno and then moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and now The Villages, Florida. For the past two years we have been enjoying the southern lifestyle where we don't have to shovel snow, drive in blizzards and only have 6 weeks a year of good weather!
Bruce is retired from the Air National Guard/Air Force. I retired after 20 years in healthcare (as an Executive Assistant, Operations Supervisor and later as a Technology Project Manager). I am very happily working a no-stress "retirement" job, doing graphic design, organizing special events and acting as a general "Girl-Friday" for a business owner in the Villages.
I have two sons. Jamie...Expand for more
is a High School Special Education Teacher, who lives in the Bay Area and is engaged to get married next winter to Patty, who is a school counselor. Jeff is still single and lives in Portland, Oregon. He is a musician, sound engineer and also works in sales for a large corporation. I have three stepsons. Eric is an Information Systems Analyst and he is married to Becky, who has recently gone back to school. Their two boys are Aaron (5) and Daniel (3), they live in Fresno. Paul is a Creative Director at a church in Fresno and is married to Kimberly, who is a professional photographer. Their two kids are Anna (6) and Samuel (4). Mark is an accountant and works for a company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is married to Timery, who is a Dental Assistant and they have one son, Ian (4).
We are very busy with life, keeping our two standard poodles, Poppy and Kimo, out of trouble; playing golf several times a week; playing Pickleball; and spending lots of time with our friends and family. I still love to travel, read, watch movies and go out to dinner (eating is such a BAD habit!). I laugh and pray every day and thank God for my many blessings. It's a good life.
