Sharon's Story

Sharon's schools include Novato High School. Music: Everything except jazz. Never understood it I guess. One of Sharon's favorite quotes is:"Always say something sweet, you may have to eat it someday.". More about Sharon:"I'm kind, considerate, fun to be around. Bossy, sweet tempered, smart, good sense of humor. Know my own worth.". Been very busy in retirement. Thought I would stop working, but that's not happening. I have been traveling a lot lately, and plan more as the year flies by. I try and keep in touch with old friends, but sometimes it hard. But I think of everyone often. Of course I will be at the 50th reunion, wouldn't miss it for the world!! OK, after graduating I went to Music and Art Institute in San Francisco, but had to quick because of money and family issues. I then went to work in San Francisco, commuted with Gina and Marilyn, had a great time. After three years left the bank and worked in Sausalito for ED Bullard's. Stayed there for eight years and loved it. Would still be there, except they decided to move to Cynthiana Kentucky, and we were all out of a job, and totally broken hearted. Funny, we left our job the same day Nixon left the White House in that helicopter. In 79' I got married and am still with the same guy. I know, what a surprise. If I'm nothing else, I'm loyal. I have two sons, Tom and Chris, and one grandson whose 10. My parents are no longer with us, but I miss them everyday. All my brothers are around. One in Corte Madera and two in Idaho. I guess you could say I'm now the oldest in my family. Believe, all my cousins manage to remind me of that all the time. I love my life, and now I believe I'm the best I'll ever be. (Of course that goes without saying since we're rolling down that proverbial hill at this point in our lives.) I know who I am and I deal with life on my own terms. I am truly surprised that I am still alive at 68. Never thought I'd make it, bu...Expand for more
t the genes tell the story. I'm relatively healthy, don't smoke, I do drink, but not much. I use to really throw it down, but life changes you, and the hangovers can kill ya', not to mention the liver aspect! I still sing, and glad to be able to do it. As you get older everything starts to change, but luckily I still have that, and it makes me happy. I have a bucket list and have had great luck in checking it off. I hadn't seen either Brian Wilson or Mike Love in years. So, with help from some friends I got passes to both of their shows and got to go back stage and see them. It was something that I needed to do. When my contract was over with Capital, and when the Beatles came on the scene I was left at the way side. I knew it would happen, because when Brian and I would talk about the group and the fact that Capital had signed them, I felt it was the beginning of the end for me. But to this day I wondered why no one ever said good by to me. No letter, no phone call, no "Gee, I'm sorry it didn't work out", no nothing. In reality I had been dumped, surprisingly I was never bitter. Sad, but never mad. I saw it coming and in the end, although Brian still talked about songs he wanted me to record, I knew in my heart it was over for us. Once it happened I guess I was in the right place, because I went on with my life. I look back on it as if I were looking at someone else. In retrospect that attitude may have saved me from a s**t load of heartache, and self loathing. But I came out of it well, and in tact. Now that the historians of the Beach Boys found me, after all these years. Sharon Marie is having a bit of a revival. I had always wondered why my name was never mentioned in all those books that were written about them. I was told by one of the author's that all they knew about me was my maiden name. Once the internet became what it is, that was how they found me. See you all at the 50th reunion!!
