Sharon's Story
Life
First I want to extend a BIG HELLO, HOW ARE YOU to every one who clicks on my Bio. I started out as Sharon Lee Vernon and as my life passed on I became Sharon Lee Vernon Buffington Bozarth Vernon. I feel at this time in my life I have come full circle and am embarking on my life again as I started, Sharon Lee Vernon. I live in Atco, NJ not far from my childhood home in Medford Lakes. I have 3 sons and I have brought another little boy into my home to love and care for since he has no one else in this world to care. I have become a licensed Skill Development Provider for the Division of Developmental Disabilities and my home is a licensed Community Care Residence. I also work full time for the Association for Retarded Citizens of Camden County in Berlin NJ as an Instructor and am a Certified Practioner of Reiki. My middle son David was born with brain damage due to lack of oxygen at birth which is how I came upon my vocation as an agressive advocate for the disabled. I believe in independence rather than dependence and that is the foundation for my teachings. Nothing in this world is worth as much as an independent skill learned through love and patience. To me, dependence is a dis-service. My youngest son Bryan and oldest son Michael are on their own now and have blessed me with my two grandchildren....Expand for more
Michael's son Mikey is the curious, can do it myself kind of grandson I was hoping for and Bryan's daughter Hailley is the cute as a button, sweetie I had wished for all my life. Mikey and his parents live in Washington state and we communicate regularly but I wish they were closer. Hailley and her parents live right here in Berlin and I see her all the time much to my delight. My son's father died in December of 2000 so he was not here to see his grandchildren. I am single now due to my divorce in 1/2001 from my second marraige. Dating is not even close to the same thing as when we were in high school. Unlike dating and choosing my partner in high school, I have the wisdom and patience to hold out for the right partner this time around :) My goals and aspirations now include keeping my chosen son, Chancey (who is also disabled, blind and non-verbal) with me, teaching as many skills as I can to the disabled people who are in my charge and becoming a Reiki Master teacher, practicing on people to help alleviate their pain and suffering. I would also like to become $rich$ :) but unfortunately I have chosen the wrong field of endeavor for that kind of rich. I am satisfied in knowing my riches are of the heart kind, the kind that come with nothing tangible, the kind of riches that have made me who I am today.
