Sharron's Story
Moved to Manchester in March 1957 from Utah. Dad was with AT&T putting in undersea cable to Hawaii. Moved to Sunnyvale, CA in June 1959. Moved back to Manchester Jan. 1961 to graduate with class. Graduated from Santa Rosa Jr College and married in 1963. Moved to Tulare area in 1965 where I spent 15 years self-employed in retail and wholesale dairy and egg business. Divorced in 1979 and changed career becoming a teacher's aide at the high school business department. I watched the exit of typewriters with throws (non and electric), entrance and demise of Pet Commodores, Lanier word processors, and Apple IIe's before becoming a total pc lab. Returned to school and obtained teacher's credential and took part time job with Adult School. It was really a great time. grand children and attending their activities, sewing, crafting, reading, traveling and relaxing. I am Secretary for California Job's Daughters Foundation and continue to work with local Job's Daughter Bethels. Any one remember Bethel No 297? Still get the question, "where is Pt Arena?" as I travel the state visiting Bethels.
I have 4 children, Michelle in CA, Curtiss in Utah, Christopher in CA, and Nicholas in South Dakota. Been blessed with 4 grand children 3 boys and two girls from 21 to 4 years old.
Have wonderful memories of Point Area area and was surprised by the family on my 60th birthday with a weekend family reunion at the lighthouse. Took over all three houses and had our own professional photographer take pictures. Really enjoyed showing off the area to my children. My daughter was born while we were living in the little house on Coast Highway 1 where the road to the lighthouse takes off just before the s-curves and flat.
