Shauna's Story

Life After graduation I went to Snow College for one year. While there I met my husband, Lyndon Gardner of Emery Co. Utah. We married Sept. 8, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. We lived in Granger for the next 7 years. We had our four children while living there. They are Jennifer, Valerie, Scott and Amylyn. In 1980 we moved to Orangeville, Utah so my husband could be a coal miner. We are now the grandparents of four boys and three girls. I have kept busy with crocheting, singing, being in community theater productions and my church activity. In October of 2005 my husband got a job in the gold mines of Nevada and so now we are living in Spring Creek, Nevada. We are missing our family but we hope to retire in ten years back in Emery Co. Many of you may have recognized that my parents died in February 2007. It was in the media quite a bit. It has been quite an adjustment since I am so far away from my sisters, but we heard from a lot of friends from high school days and that has helped. I am just a stay at home wife with plenty of time on my hands, so I would like to hear from old friends. I always wanted to be a wife and mother when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right. Usually I rant and rave a little and then sit down to the piano and play "Bolero" or "Battle Hymn". If I won $100 million, I'd give $1 million of it to family , then spend the rest on a truck, house and inv...Expand for more
estments for retirement. I share my home with my husband, my second daughter and her husband, which I find trying at times. My daughter moved back to Utah in May, 2010 and now we are all happier. My hubby is my hero. He has been so supportive of all that I do. He even helps me with my Tupperware business and my crocheted doll projects. The biggest reason he is my hero though is because in 38 years of marriage he has done jobs that he didn't like or was uncomfortable with just so we (his family) were cared for. He is the BEST! The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Connie Sommercorn, because she was one of my most cherished friends and we have lost contact through the years.. I've learned to laugh and share my feelings with my children so that they are never in doubt that I love them. I've learned that they will surprise you with confessions when they are grown up. I've learned to love more unconditionally. I would love to see Mr. Pearce again. I'd like to tell him what I've learned about music and how to conduct it. I appreciate all that I learned from him. My best friend would tell you I'm shy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as outgoing and ambitious. If I had a do-over it would probably be to get more education to be prepared for anything that happens in life. In 10 years, I hope to be retired and living back in Utah with my family. I'm going to get there by living long enough.
