Shawn's Story

Life I attended Ramey High School in Puerto Rico (1959-61), graduated from Oscoda Area High School (Michigan) in 1962 and attended Palm Beach Junior College (now Palm Beach State College) in Florida as a drama major in 1963-64. Went back to college in recent years and expect to achieve degree by 2020.I served as an admiral's writer and operations yeoman in the US Navy from 1965-67 for VADM Richard G. Colbert, Commander of Cruiser-Destroyer Flotilla SIX, homeported in Charleston, SC. An actor/writer/film producer and a longstanding member of both Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity Association, I've appeared in more than 25 feature films and television programs and 75 stage productions. I worked several years as a stage manager and/or production manager in South Florida, Pennsylvania and New York, most notably for the Zev Bufman organization, and was an officer with two independent film companies (Earth Productions & Macaw Films), during which I produced severa...Expand for more
l features and television pilots, including the children's film, "Looking For Trouble," for Roger Corman. As a writer, I spent 3 years as a journalist, have ghost written numerous books, and my autobiography was published in 1998 under the title, "Surrender the Jealous Mistress," shortly after my wife of 20 years, Marie, died of cancer. I wrote the only authorized biography of world renown artist Edna Hibel, which was published in June 2006 under the title "HIBEL: The Life and Art of Edna Hibel," and is distributed through the Hibel Museum of Art in Jupiter, Florida. In 2008 my first book of poetry was published, "Southern Bridges/Northern Lights." I have two daughters (Dawn & Stacy), three stepdaughters (Rose, Terry, & Linda), seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. My eldest grandson, Bryan, while serving in the U.S. Army was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in Hawaii in 2008 after serving as a combat medic in Afghanistan for two years.
