Shawn's Story
Life
My last name now is Tolbert. 4 years ago, this coming Tuesday, I married a man named Bill Tolbert. He is a local musician (drummer) around town and was really known for hosting karaoke in many venues around Augusta. I had 2 daughters (Amber & Heather Smith) when we met and he brought 1 son and 4 daughters to the table when we met. Between the 2 of us, we now have 9 grandchildren (and 2 kids who haven't even gotten started yet).
In 2005, I lost my brother, Steve, who is also a Glenn Hills High School graduate, Class of '79, to a major heart attack, at the age of 43. That has to be the most awful thing I've ever experienced in my life thus far. Ironically, the following year, 2006,...Expand for more
was one of the sweetest in that it saw the birth of my first biological grandchild, Kylie Nicole.
I have worked for the Richmond County Tax Commissioner's Office going into my 22nd year. Right after graduation, I went to work for First Atlanta Bank (now Wachovia), and then here. These are the only two jobs I've ever held.
In April of this year, my oldest daughter Amber got married. It was a beautiful wedding and I'm looking forward to more grandchildren (she is one of the 2 who hasn't started yet).
Bill and I also have 2 dogs (female; Bill just can't get away from females in his life). We have a rottie named CJ and a mutt named Razzie.
