Shawn's Story
Life
I have been extremely fortunate to have spent my life doing what I've always loved and have always BEEN. Creating art. Once had an interesting discussion with a close friend as to that an artist was who I WAS - not just what I did. She disagreed and insisted it was what one DID. Which of course was HER truth - not mine.
Have done editorial illustration for magazines like TIME, Entertainment Weekly, PLAYBOY, TV Guide. Illustrated 16 children's books and now spend the lion's share of my time doing fine art painting. Landscapes and wildlife and have work in a Santa Fe district gallery here in Denver and am talking with galleries in Santa Fe, NM and the Pacific NW and the CA coast as we speak. So life is unfolding in perfection and I am always aware of what a blessing it is.
I have two amazingly perfect children - Nicolle 25 and Paul 21. And have discovered Galileo was wrong when he postualted what exactly it is the world revolves around. Not the sun - rather MY grandson! Who is 14 months old 6/3/07. What an amazing soul!
The things that I love doing when NOT doing art are in no particular order - sea kayaking ( especi...Expand for more
ally alongside killer whales in the Pacific NW ) , snow shoeing, scuba diving, snorkeling, riding my bike, traveling to new places, hiking in the uncharted or charted wilds, prowling through art gallerys, bookstores.
Have become very involved in the church I attend - Mile Hi Church of Religous Science of Mind and Spirit. Which can be described by what it's NOT- Scientology or Christian Science. There IS confusion out there. It's an exciting teaching and a wonderful path and I'm active in the youth ministry - teaching pre-school classes weekly.
Have met most of my current friends and acquaintances there or at Art Students League of Denver where I take plein air oil painting classes - which is another passion and great way to combine hiking in the wilds, loving nature and art.
Looking forward to the Class of 67 reunion AND the Class of 68's also. I get to do both - I grew up with all of the 1967 people but actually graduated in '68. Mr Peonio loving my presence so much there he asked me to stay an extra half year and they didn't graduate folks in the winter so I stayed the full year and just loaded up on more art classes.
