Sheila's Story
After finishing my freshman yr at Alamitos Intermediate School in 1975. That was the last yr that the freshman class was there and they changed the boundaries for the high schools (Alamitos and Pacifica). My older sister (Debbie Schlinker) was going to Pacifica and I was suppose to go to Alamitos High. My family (mom and two sisters) moved to Illinois. This was the most culture shock I've ever experienced. No more beaches .....no more mountains.... no more beautiful weather and most of all no more friends! I spent the next three yrs of high school thinking this is suppose to be the highlight of my youth, but instead I was surrounded by a bunch of small town minded people. The girls m...Expand for more
y age already hated me ...cause I was from CA and the boys.... thought because I was from CA I have done it all! Believe it or not I am still in that same small town where I raised my daughter. Now she is off to college in a big city and she says she will never come back to this small town (Watseka). I am still trying to get out of it. I have reunited with Shannon Carbone (my closest childhood friend). She is in FL now married with cats LOL. Hi... to anyone who remembers me and if you would like to come visit the state of Illinois the only thing here is Chicago. The only thing around my neighborhood is cornfields during the summer months and even more boring during the other months.
