Sheila's Story
Life
Well I have since settled down put down some roots here on the East side of the mountains. I am much happier here, even If I do have to shovel snow from the walks arond the house. Rob Plows the driveway to the Highway (If he remembers to take the clicker w/ him)
School
I have finished many Navy schools and was the first female to pass (2nd in class) Automatic Boiler Control Maintenance and Repair.
I believe that all I went through in high school prepared me for the challenges in the Navy.
College
didn't go to college but partied like I was :)
Workplace
my work life went from trying to be heard when I said "may I help you" or "I can help you over here" when I was working at Hardees' to Bartending and bouncer and on to a Boiler Technician in the navy, that was the opposite of taking care of people the equipment kept on untill you fixed it and people tend to just drag on and on, Heck just ask my mother. anyway now I am retired and trying to find things to do for snow days.
Military
Joining the Navy was one of the better ...Expand for more
moves I made. I spent bootcamp in Orlando and my first Boiler Technician schools in Great Lakes Ill. My first assignment was on the Simon Lake out of Scotland it was a beautiful country and WET most of the time but the tripple raibows and blue skies afterwards made up for it. I was then sent to Mayport Florida on the Yosemite where we deployed for Desert Storm. It was some really hard days taking care of the Ships there but rewarding in the end. I was then sent to Norfolk and I HATED IT. The LY Spear was a hell hole and I was never so glad to leave it when I got to go to San Diego for Shore duty. I spent 2 years there in the Manpower office at Service School Command. Due to the base closure and realignment program the base closed in 95. I then went to Bremerton Washington (back near the area I had lived for 4 years). I was then put on the Uss Sacramento. I was on there 2 months when I had a run in with a vexing vaccine which ended my career after struggling for 3 years to over come the side effects. I left as a Machinist Mate 1st Class.
