Shelley's Story
Life
I have been married for 20 years and have 2 daughters, Noelle (will be 17 in February 09) and Tori (14). We moved to Simpsonville, SC (a suburb of Greenville, SC) in July 2005, after living in Clayton for the previous 12 years. I have been a Registered Nurse for 17 years and have worked as a Certified Case Manager for most of my career. I am also a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, and work with attorneys on medical malpractice and personal injury cases. I recently took a job as a Wellness Nurse Coach and enjoy talking to patients about how to stay healthy.
I have 6 pets: Fina, 4 year old Siberian Husky; Trixie, 3 year old black lab mix; Gaylord and Thomas, adopted tuxedo cats (NO, I did not name them!); and 2 guinea pigs.
High School
I don't remember much of school.......I skipped so much of my senior year that I am surprised I graduated (lol....is it ok to admit that now?).
Workplace
I graduated from nursing school a...Expand for more
nd became an RN in 1990, and immediately moved to Greenville, NC to start an OB/GYN internship at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. I spent 3 years working in the newborn nursery, mother/baby unit, and neonatal intensive care nursery at PCMH before moving back to the Raleigh area to be closer to my family. I worked for a private OB/GYN practice in Raleigh until receiving a layoff after the doctor's sudden death, and then began work as a Case Manager at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn. In 1999, I moved to an HMO, and received my certification in Case Management. I received my certification as a Legal Nurse Consultant in 2001, and since that time, I have done part-time work with attorneys while working full-time at the HMO. I am working towards making my LNC business a full-time business, as that is what I really love to do.
Possibly the biggest surprise about me: I am learning to fly a plane and hope to get my pilot license soon!
