Shelly's Story
Gee, where to begin.....
After graduation, I worked around the area for a few years and then met my husband, Mike Hackney (whom I graduated with but didn't know) at Debbie Cox's wedding. We were married 11 months later....that was November of 1974 and we've been married ever since. We're coming up on 34 years this November. We live about 45 mile northeast of Sacramento (No, I have never seen the Governator in person, lol, my family always asks) in a little town called Lincoln.
We have a son Chris, age 27, and a daughter Erin, age 22. Chris is lead singer and lead guitarist in an Indie band called Edge of Never (check them out if you have MySpace), and also works during the day at Blockbuster because his old job as a landscaper was too dangerous for the hands, too much chance of breaking bones and not being able to play guitar. Our daughter Erin, works at Wal*Mart and loves her job. She'll soon be going to school to become a vet tech. You'll see why below, lol.
Mike is currently semi-retired and getting ready to start his own photography business photographing real estate for agents, brokers, the MLS, whatever and also for insurance companies and just for anyone who needs a really good photographer.
Me, well, after raising my kids to a point where they were in school and not home much, I went back to school myself. At age 40, I was older than my teachers, how weird. I became a Medical Transcriptionist and have worked for an Eye Clinic and Surgery, CHW/Mercy, and switched to veterinary medicine when I was outsourced from Mercy, at Idexx Veterinary Labs. Now I ...Expand for more
work from home for a transcription service, called Soft Script. Great company. They along just in the nick of time, right after I was outsourced again, this time from Idexx. I type hospital reports for two hospitals in Kansas, and I love it.
In my question and answer portion, I couldn't put down what I really love to do most in my spare time indoors. I still love to sing and do it all the time, and I love to write fiction, and I do that all the time as well. I write in role playing web sites, and the stories are mostly fantasy and Sci-Fi. I love to write for fun.
Also in the question & answer portion, I couldn't say much about pets. We have a carnivorous fish, a Green Puffer named Bloat, and a gold fish who was supposed to be food for the Puffer, but they decided to be friends instead, his name is Mr. Dweebleman, and a suckermouth catfish named Leroy. We also have 8 cats and a dog. The cats sit and watch the fish, the dog watches the cats, and we watch our wallets as the money for all these constant eaters magically disappears. The dog is a Border Collie Australian Sheepdog mix and as hyper as can be. There are so many cats because they are his "herd" and he herds them everywhere and stops their squabbles with a large foot planted right in the middle of the offending kitty.
We have a very interesting and totally not boring life and we love it. I look forward to hearing from old friends and classmates so please stop by. If you're a friend of Mike's, leave him a message. I haven't been able to talk him into getting a page.....yet... but I'm working on him.
