Shelly's Story
Workplace
Since high school I have worked lots of different jobs. I worked lots of retail while going to Olympic College. I got sick of it and thought I would try something new. So one day I decided to hop on a boat and go out to sea. I didn't join the military or anything but I did become a Merchant Marine. I worked on cargo ships for about a year. pened I was lucky to be at home. The ships that I sailed on were military ships and were sent straight to the middle east. I decided at that point that it was too dangerous. I didn't want to be stuck on a boat right in the middle of the war. After I left the Merchant Marines I worked office jobs. I got a job working as a contractor for the Navy and did that for about a year. When that job ended I got my current job in Seattle working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
