Amoes's Story
The photo is my blond hair, blue eyed wife from Berlin Germany
New Update: 2/05/2022. I’m 74 this month and my hair is starting to turn gray. My macho physic has turned into mucho physic. My health is very questionable and my wife checks me to see if I am breathing. I still love old cars and still have one l’ve been working on for several years. It looks good, runs good and I try to drive it once a month when my wife isn’t looking. We’ll be married 52 years next month and I frequently tell her she got a hell of a catch and responds by telling me she shouldn’t have let him go. In 2018 we moved back to Arkansas to live in a shack on top of a mountain in a place called Hot Springs Village, AR, 18 miles from anything and everything. Take care and enjoy life to the fullest.
Update: I'm now retired and realize I should have retired a few years ago; I love it. My retirement was an adjustment for my wife, a former police detective who retired in 2004. In order to come to an understanding of hierarchy we had to develop a schedule of who the boss is at any given time, She is boss Monday, Wednesday & Friday and I'm suppose to be the boss Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday; Sunday no one is boss. It works good except for the fact she seems to have social events the day I'm boss and she's gone for the day.
For those of you that don't remember me I was a quiet, shy person that lacked confidence in high school (W.C. Overfelt) and went by my middle name Harry; no one could pronounce my first name correctly. Friends now call me Shep, short for Sheppard.
After high school I went into the military. As a lean mean fighting machine in the military some of my highly classified duties; e.g. guarding ducks, birthday cakes and shredding classified documents. I was highly decorated including receiving several purple hearts for paper cuts, burnin...Expand for more
g my fingers while lighting candles on the birthday cakes and being bitten by ungrateful ducks.
After military I was a Rogue Scholar having been on academic probation at some of the most prestigious Universities in the world and I have a solid background in applied science and the arts; turning on the TV and painting by the numbers. I am fluent in the four languages where I studied; British, Australian, Irish and Redneck.
Since high school my career progression included Construction Manager, Planner, Estimator, Contractor, Engineer, taught part time at San Jose City College for five years, Environmental Auditing and served as a member of U. S. Army Reserve. I received one of the last Lifetime Teaching License from the State of California through the University of California. After touring the world I retired from the military in 1998.
While pursuing my education, I met the love of my life and we have been married 43 years. Prior to retirement I was a Director for the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development located in North Carolina. My wife is a retired senior Police Detective who adapted to retirement quite easily and enjoys stimulating the economy on a regular basis. Although my wife has problems with directions and gets lost easily she knows how to get to every mall within a 40 mile radius of our home without a GPS. We have lived in North Carolina since 2003.
As maturity set in we gave up skydiving, scuba diving, riding dirt bikes and snow skiing and our favorite pass time is still enjoying life to the fullest without walkers.
I have all my hair, all my limbs and most of my teeth, some people say I am presentable when cleaned up, even in cheap clothes.
I hope the best for those that have read this bio and encourage you to find humor and laughter in your life.
