Sheri's Story
Hi, old friends. I hope you're all well and staying healthy (vaccinated & boosted, if able) and surviving the pandemic as well as possible. I've been living in a Co-housing community in Atlanta for decades (after DC, L.A, and NYC) and enjoy a N. GA mountain cabin. I'm a working actor/writer/director/filmmaker/teacher. I'm getting ready later this month (1/22) to shoot a lead role in a film in CA that's based on an award-winning book ("Nana Dara is Gay"), which will go to festivals and possibly be developed as a limited series for TV. I'm in various films that continue to be aired (after their runs in theaters): three Tyler Perry dramas, Why Did I Get Married, Why Did I Get Married Too, and Fall From Grace. as well as My Fellow Americans. I played a guest role on the Starz Network series, Hightown last year. I also teach privately (these days virtually), with students from around the world. A film I directed, "Amanda Torres: Relentlessly Alive" has been in recent festivals and one I co-produced, "Becoming a Man in 127 Steps" was at Tribeca and Outfest festivals the past 2 years. My sons are now 20 and 23. They're also professional actors and my younger went viral with spoken word poetry (see Royce Mann...Expand for more
on Youtube with "White Boy Privilege", "All Lives Matter, BUT", and "Rise Up", amongst others). He's in his second year at Emory Univ. as the Robert Woodruff-MLK Jr. Scholar, studying Political Science. His brother is Tendal Mann, who starred in Italy's Bullied to Death and other films. Faith-wise, I'm Unitarian-Universalist Agnostic and I love my friends of various faith beliefs, races/ethnicities, and my GLBTQIA friends. I'm honored to be a facilitator for Equitable Dinners, supporting progress in racial reckoning and social justice worldwide and I'm a member of Braver Angels, working to bring people together across political divides (great virtual events -- check it out). I was a Team Leader for the Obama campaign, served as 1st Vice-Chair of the Dekalb County Dems, and was an elected Delegate to the Democratic Convention. Life is good, but the world needs a lot of help and I hope we can all make a difference together. I'm also single again for the first time in 27 years. Let me know about your life. I enjoy being in touch with old and new friends. Let me know if you're passing thru Atlanta, too. I was in CO this Fall for the Celebration of Life for our former classmate, Anthony Thompson. RIP.
