Sheri's Story
16 Sep 08
My story is still being written, but, I am on my way to accomplishing my goals. And, my biggest surprise in life is being a wife and mother too. And, although it wasn't a part of my "life time" plan of being a career women, my life would not be happier nor complete without them. My family, friends, and work make be a blessed person.
After high school, I worked here and there in restaurants, and for my Dad while attending community college. In 1986, I joined the USAF where I remained for 16 years. My first assignment was Bad Muender, Germany (86-90), followed by Sembach Air Base, Germany (90-94), and two consecutive assignments to Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Florida (94-02).
During my tenure in the military, I finished a couple AS degrees and a BS. And, very young, I married once for a year and half, then, divorced. Later, I married a second time to Doc, now a Lieutenant Colonel in the USAF; and, we have three beautiful children. eerleader at Virginia Wesleyan this year. And, the boys, both avid soccer players and the energy of the family, Rhys (8) and Rhet (6) are in grade school. The pseudo baby, our Walker Hound is Bailey (2). Our 12 year old Basset Hound, Clarabelle passed a few years ago.
Just prior to 9/11, I had an epiphany concerning my career and decided to leave the military. For a few years, I continued to work in government as a contractor mainly with the Air and Space Operations (AOC) program office and some other command and control agencies. And, for the last year and a half, I was the Configuration Manager Lead/Quality Manager with an IT company called EchoStorm.
Soon (Oct 08), I join the Institute of Configuration Management (ICM) as a consultant and certifying instructor. This is an opportunity to work for my mentor in CM and I'm excited to begin this adventure.
I want a lot more in life, am ambitious to achieve, but am so very thankful for all I have. And, look forward to adding to this story as my adventure continues.
