Sherri's Story
After school I went to UCSC and graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts - costume design. Which I turned my design experience into a career in Graphic Design.
Now I work from home, along with my husband, Steve and our dog, Max. We create all kinds of fun things that get printed...marketing materials, branding, packaging, advertising, specialty items like invitations and booklets for special events, vehicle graphics...if it gets printed, we can design something to serve the purpose.
We're in fabulous Santa Cruz, CA - we love it here. Beautiful beaches and big giant redwood trees a few miles away. I can swim in the ocean in the morning and in the afternoon go for a run in the redwood forest. Aaaaaahhhhh. :-)
In high school I ran on the girl's cross country team in my last year. I believe Brian Hayes invited me to join the cross country team, and just for fun, I went for it. Well, all that running training came back - in 2000 I started doing triathlons. Woohoo! What a blast. Swim, bi...Expand for more
ke, run... here's a sport that keeps my interest. I just race the shorter distances - sprint and olympic - which is plenty for me. I can run a half marathon, which I do my birthday run at Big Basin State Park every summer - the Skyline to Sea Trail, which is about 13 miles of trails from park headquarters out to the beach. That's the longest distance I ever go. I may not be fast, but I do finish in a decent time. After hearing stories from other folks about their high school coaches - I'm glad that we had Mr. Burke for our coach ---- I think he really knew what he was doing, not to mention being a really nice guy.
Steve and I have been married 15 years now. I became an instant grandma at 30 - Steve's kids are from a previous marriage and the oldest has 4 daughters, all of which are in their teens now. Our oldest granddaughter is graduating high school this year (2008). Time sure does fly by. They live about 40 minutes north of us in Silicon Valley.
