Sherrie's Story
Life
I live in Gruver, Tex with my husband, Dr.Rev.Brad Reeves. We have been married for 30 years. (Married at August 18, 1979)My husband is a Pastor at 1st Methodist Church in Gruver. Brad received his Master of Divinity and Doctorate from Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, Ky. Brad and I lived in Welch, TX, our 1st yr of married life, while we finished at Tech. We then moved to Midland for the summer, where Brad was youth director at St Paul Methodist Church. Then we moved and lived in Ky for 3 yrs. Next we moved to Darrouzette Tx,& our son was born on July 14, 1984. In 1986, we moved to Earth Tx. Our daughter was born while we lived there on July 15, 1887. Next, we moved to Borger for 4 yrs. Then we moved to Merkel, Tx for 4 more years. Then we moved to Muleshoe, Tx and lived there 5 yrs. Then we moved to Clovis & have lived here in Clovis for 5 1/2 years. We have 2 children. Our son, Andrew, 24 Our daughter, Chrisie,(21) is married to Jake Lemon.
Music is very important to me. I have written and sang some of my own songs. I sing in our church choir and help with our worship team too. Brad and I are also involved with the Walk to Emmaus too. I have helped lead music at Emmaus events too. We have 4 pets. Our dog's name is Ranger. We have 3 cats;Tiger,Scottie and Jordie.
I am a Texas Tech Red Raider Fan as I bleed Red & Black. Go Red Raiders.
School
I graduated from Cooper High School in 1975. I was in Cougar's Pride, FHA officer and took 2 yrs of Latin. I ran around with Kay Doran, Gwen Sheppard, Sheryl Ashby, Kathy B...Expand for more
onney, Judy Fields, Cindy Holden, and Sandi Lee. My sister, Kay, and I attended 1st U Methodist Church along with Sandi Lee, Cindy Holden, Paula Mallon, Steve Nixon, Sarah Robb, and others.
I attended Crockett El 1-6, and Jefferson Jr 7-9th.I was in Choir and worked in the office at Jefferson.
I attended at least part of all 3 Cooper Class of 75 Reunions. After HS, I attended and graduated from Texas Tech U.
College
After May 1975 HS Graduation, I attended Texas Tech University 1975-1979 and graduated in Dec 1979. I sang in a Tech Girls Choir and took Education Classes. I lived in Knapp Hall Dorm till Brad and I got married in Aug 1979. I roomed with Jan Davis, and then Susan Parks at Knapp.
I received a Bach of Science in Ed., with certifications in Sp Ed and Reading/LA. I attended Tech athletic events, especially Texas Tech Football. I still attend Tech Football games, including many of their bowl games.
Years later, 1999, I took Music classes at Eastern NMU in Portales, NM.
Workplace
In the past, I taught and subbed in various schools etc. at the various places that we have lived. I stayed at home with my 2 kids, until our daughter went to Kindergarten. I worked as a Traumatic Brain Injury Life Skills Coach for 2 yrs.until last July 07. Since then, I have served on a brand new grassroots organization for the State of New Mexico. I am a rep for the DDPC Grassroots Planning Council. I do advocacy, networking and ed for the disabled, help with Mi Via, etc. of NM.
