Sherry's Story
Graduation was spent in St. Joseph's hospital due to an accident John and I had in his new car. We were hit on my side of the car by a truck as we were crossing Dale Mabry up by Van Dyke Rd. I was 3 months in skeletal traction with a crushed pelvis, compound fx of both bones in my right leg and a fx R collar bone.
College was delayed a year while I healed and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital with John's mother who was the Director of Nursing there. After working there with her, I was inspired to go to nursing school and enrolled at Gordon Keller School of Nursing on Davis Island. rlds! John and I were married in my senior year (1969) and had our first child in 1971. We had 2 more children and, after almost 10 years of marriage, were divorced. We both subsequently remarried, but there's nothing like your high school sweetheart! We experienced many "firsts" together!
I worked in different areas of nursing while raising our children until I settled in Dialysis. I worked in different parts of Florida from Miami to Gainesville as Director of Nursing for an international corporation until I retired a few years ago. Now, life is slower, simpler and much more fulfilling. I love being out of the "rat race" and living in my little "log cabin" on 7 acres... I still preach and teach the word of God when He makes the opportunity and life is good!
