Sherrylynne's Story
Dad retired in '70. I left Utah for Visalia, CA. I graduated high school and community college in Visalia, then Wichita State University in KS. I ended up in Vegas, where my parents were. I married, had 2 beautiful kids; son in 1978 and a daughter in 1979. I have 7 grandchildren! I now have a Biblical divorce. Nuff said.
I got my BA in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I spent 40 years in most forms of childcare and teaching, including directing childcare centers,.home schooling my 2 children, subbing in public school and teaching in private school..
I have had to quit teaching. I have MCS, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. Basically, I react to every day products like shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, make-up, after shave, perfumes, cleaners etc...Expand for more
. I am extremely limited in what products I can use. My reactions can be an Asthma attack, migraine, depression or flu like symptoms. I tire easily and often feel drained. The good news is, I have already improved greatly since quitting at the end of the 2013-14 school year. My Asthma is so much better, I no longer have to use a preventive inhaler twice a day and my rescue inhaler 2-3 times a week. I have used my rescue inhaler 3 times in 4 months!
I am still able to attend church and I teach a kids class on Tues evening. I feel very blessed! Some people with MCS can't even leave their home!
In my spare time, I write and illustrate children's picture books. Some day you will be able to say, "I knew her when...." LOL!
