Sherry's Story
I can't believe it's been almost 50 years since graduation! It feels like yesterday and like ancient history all at the same time. I still live in Irving. My mom died right after I graduated and I stayed close to be with the rest of my family. I went on to get my bachelor's degree at UNT in Psychology and Information Science with a minor in Art. I later went for my Master's in Information Science and the graduation ceremony for that was on the same day as our 20th reunion. I went to it but I was so tired I don't remember a whole lot about it. I married when I was 31 to a wonderful man with whom I'm still married, 35 years next month. We chose not to have children as he was 37 and we weren't ready to start a family immediately. I had a career that I loved and traveled extensively. company was sold to a competitor. Since then I have been a yoga teacher and therapist working with medical professionals to help seniors age more painlessly. It's been rewarding. Since COVID I've cut way back and I'm focusing more time on Art and reading trashy novels although I still teach online several times a week to students who have been with me for years. I also do a fair amount of life coaching using the principles and science of yoga to assist others in building their dream life. My memories of high school are pretty scarce as it was a very stressful time in my life coping with my mom's terminal illness. It was a formative experience that was the most difficult in my life and has impacted who I've become, hopefully in a positive way. I don't plan to be at the reunion as I didn't know that many people and I'm a true introvert and I'd rather be home with my created family and my art and books.
