Sherry's Story
Life
I married at 17 and had 2 daughters. Divorced just before I turned 21 and was a single parent for several years. It was a difficult time. When I was 25 I married again, to Richard Davis. A year later we welcomed our daughter into our little family. Five years later we packed up, rented out our house and moved to Portland, Oregon. We both found good jobs and eventually sold our house in Cottonwood and purchased a home in Portland. We have been living here for 30+ years now.
Our daughter, Heather, died when she was 17 so life became nearly unlivable for a while. We managed to survive the nightmare and life went on for us.
My two older daughters and Richard's daughter from a previous relationship, have given us 7 ...Expand for more
wonderful grandchildren, and 3 precious great grandchildren.
My husband, Richard worked for 29 years at a company that grows silicon crystals that are made into computer chips. He retired last year. I worked for 16 years in the development department of the Easter Seals Oregon state office. I enjoyed my work and worked my way up to a program manager. After our daughter died, I developed some chronic health problems that have resulted in my being on disability. So, we have had our share of bumps along the way but everything works out, one way or another.
Life is good. We love our home and our lush green yard helps make up for all the rain here in the beautiful Northwest. We feel so fortunate. Isn't life a hoot?!
