Sherry's Story

Yesterday, April 27,2009, this website popped up on my computer and sparked my interest and curiosity. So I thought I'd try to find out what some of my former classmates, co-workers, neighbors and friends have been up to lately. I don't know where to start but here it goes. I've been married to Jerry for 23 years in September. He's a great person and I have been very lucky in my marriage. He cleans and he cooks! He's a chef by trade. I do private nursing and really love it. We have three great children. We currently live in Wisconsin but over the past 23 years we have lived in Kingwood, TX (by Houston), Portland, OR, Temecula, CA and Monterey, CA. What brought us back to the midwest was my Grandmother. She was getting older, 92, when we moved back here. She was in great shape until this past year. She passed away in December at 98 years old. We were very close and she is greatly missed. When we lived in Monterey my parents and brother, Bob, moved there too. When we moved back to the midwest they did as well a few years later. Jerry and I were foster parents for six years to Jacob while we lived in CA. We planned on adopting him, like we did our oldest, but it didn't work out so my parents adopted him. My parents divorced and my dad lives by the Napa Valley. My mom, Bob and Jacob live about a mile from us. It's nice for all of us but I truly miss living in Monterey and all the great friends we had there. We lived there for nine years and I'd move back in a heartbeat but my family keeps me here. Eighteen years ago my brother, Bob, was in a terrible accident. He became a quadraplegic at that time. After he completed rehab he moved in wi...Expand for more
th us in Portland where Jerry was attending Culinary Arts school. Bob currently lives with my mom and we see him a lot and help out in any way we can. He has a great spirit and we are so grateful to still have him. My kids are crazy about him and over the years I have kinda grown to love him as well. Ha! Ha! Bob has remained in contact with many of his high school friends. Recently Brian Stone and his son came for a visit. It is always good to see crazy Brian. I called my best friend, Julie, from college and asked her to help me with the questions about "how your friends would describe you". I don't think we see ourselves as others see us so I asked for help. My kids also put in their two cents. When they ask about what kind of pets have you or do you have I checked off rabbits, chickens, goats, dogs, horses and pigs. We had a lot of animals when the kids were little which included a potbelly pig. I took that off because I thought it looked really weird when your profile comes up and it says your "interests" are "pigs", "goats", "chickens", etc., etc.. Right now we only have a dog. Her name is Scooter. And she is spoiled. I don't go out "wildlife spying" but I do enjoy it when the deer walk across my lawn right after it has snowed. And I am grateful for every day. In 2000 I had cancer and went thru chemo and radiation treatments. Needless to say, I'm glad to still be here. I'm happy to say that I'm cancer free today. I guess you could say life has thrown us many curves. But we keep dodging the bullets. I hope your lives have been smooth sailing and that you don't take things for granted. Take care and be good to yourself and others.
