Sherry's Story
Since graduating DHS (where I spent the majority of my time in the Art Dept.) I earned a BA in Art History from SIU in 1971. (In 1969 I took a European Grand Tour semester abroad.) In 1971 moved to Chicago (Edgewater) where I was employed in various office jobs until 1977 when I began working for Illinois Bell-Ameritech for 12 yrs. During that time I earned an MBA in International Business & Marketing in 1985 from Roosevelt U. In 1981 I married my husband Shaun, who is an Engineer from England & moved to Hyde Park (Chicago, not London). (No kids, so I spent a lot of time as a perpetual night school student.) We love to travel & take frequent vacations to Europe--mainly UK, France, Spain & Italy, but we've also been to Mexico, India & Cuba. We enjoy Las Vegas & started taking cruises lately in Europe as well. (I'm keeping dementia at bay by using my French & Spanish as much as possible.)
In 1984 we moved to the South Suburbs--1st Orland Park, then Frankfort in 1996. In 1993 I earned an MA in Art History from UIC & then taught as an adjunct for 8 yrs at various community colleges & universities in Chicago & the So. Suburbs. In 1998 I earned a certificate in Appraisal Studies from NYU & I do Art & Antique ap...Expand for more

We love Santa Fe, NM & just built a new house for retirement there in 2015. We plan to retire permanently in 2017. I'm looking forward to hanging out at the SF galleries & museums & eating out in the great restaurants. I have a few more bucket list travel vacations planned (such as Scandinavia & Greece).
My favorite food is yogurt, favorite color pink, love Cuban music & favorite actor is Meryl Streep. At the moment my favorite hobby is genealogy. I've discovered around 15K ancestors. Obama & the Bushes are distant cousins thru a common Pilgrim ancestor, Elizabeth Blossom. Had my DNA tested & learned I'm 3% Neanderthal. We have 2 dogs, Ted, a Yorkie & Lil, a poodle.
I'm happy to waste time on Facebook & play solitaire on my iPad. My husband & I love antiquing. I hope to begin perfume-making soon & want to get back to art work & sewing. I'd also like to take some Art History courses at the U. of NM, Gallery Management at Santa Fe Comm. Coll. & do some volunteer work at the SF Folk Art Museum. My ultimate goal is to live into my 80s, then cremation & have my ashes scattered somewhere nice--perhaps in the garden of a Florentine Pallazzo or at the very least a 4-star hotel on the Mediterranean.
