In the fall of 1965, I was hired by the Sears Roebuck & Company on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta as a credit correspondent handling credit accounts and collections. I worked there three years.
In 1968, I went to work with Eastern Airlines as a flight attendant. I had never been on an aircraft before, and my first flight was to Miami to attend their training school. I graduated on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1968 and was assigned to their New York (JFK) base. After 6 months, I was allowed to transfer to Atlanta (ATL), my home. I event...Expand for more
ually became an Inflight Services Supervisor for the Boston (BOS) base (I really loved Boston!)and the Newark (EWR) base. At one time there were 108 flight attendants in my group. I ended up back in Atlanta where I remained until Eastern's demise in 1991. I had a wonderful career, and would not trade my experiences for anything in the world. After all, where else could you find 36,000 friends?
My next career move was to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office in Decatur, Georgia. I was a warrant tech for 9 years. I quit due to the pressure of having a demanding job and trying to care for my elderly father at the same time. I was caregiver for my father until his death in July 2008. I then worked for a short time at the Clarkston Police Department as a deputy court clerk. I am presently retired.
I have been divorced since 1982, and have no children. I share my home with "Sunny-Boy," my little dog.
