Sheryl's Story

Life I guess the best place to start is Graduation........ Which of course was a blur, as were the following couple of years. I did however manage to get an education somewhere between the moments of blur. I have a 20 yr old daughter (21 in August), whom I adore. She is the light of my life. She is currently working on an AA at SFCC and is planning to attend UF for Veterinary Science. I am a very proud mom. As for me...I was an engineering tech for the City of Gainesville for 10 1/2 years. Decided I would give up the stress and do something I wanted to do, instead of what everyone else thought I needed to do. So I went to work for a company designing theme parks. By far the best thing I have ever decided to do. Plus, it was a very cool job! I did design work for Universal Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens, as well as museums and shows across the country. I then took a contract position in Virginia Beach with a Civil Engineer, confirming my dislike for the stressful and mundane. When my work in Virginia was complete I accepted a contract in Pensacola doing graphic design work for a beach resort still under construction. After wrapping up several years in Pensacola, I moved back to Starke and am currently working as a ride designer for a company in Jacksonville. Looking back, my choices may not have been what most would have done or even expected of me, but they have brought me to where I am today. And that is a very good place. In short, I've dodged bullets, sped faster than the local sheriff, partied til the cows came home, labored i...Expand for more
n love, climbed mountains of self preservation and lept several obsticles with a lot of help! I have also worked hard, loved passionately, lived compassionately, and have acquired a circle of friends that extends to the far corners of the earth. And at the end of the day I come home with a smile on my face. I have definitely had an exceptional life thus far. Chapter two.... In 2007 I bought a house and moved to Jacksonville. In August I was blessed with my first Grandchild. His name is Hayden and he is currently 8 months old. He is such a hoot! I was promoted at work and took over the Mechanical Engineers position. I did design work on "Hershey's Extreme Cup Challenge" at Hershey Park, a couple of rides in Spain, China and just finished a ride for Legoland California. It has been a very busy year. In 2008... My Grandson will be 1 year old August 2. He is so great. If it means I'm old, who cares! I wouldn't trade being a Grandma for anything. Work is good, it started out busy and just got crazy. My work load is completely insane, but I love it. We have built a couple of great rides so far this year. I can't name them as they are not open to the public yet. Although we did create the "Knights in White Satin" ride at Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach this year. Completely awesome ride! Check it out if you get a chance. Anyway... the rest of my time is spent working on the house, doing freelance work for other themeing companies, and somehow I even manage to have personal time. My life is good...Good family...Good friends....Good health.
