Shiane's Story

Life After high school I went to Boston for a while to find myself. I was in a girl group, produced by Geoff Gamere, who also produced, and grew up, with some members of the New Kids. We cut a demo, but it never took off. We didn't have enough financial backing. I then became involved with running a fan club for R&B artist, Jon B. I worked with that for a few years, but he soon became too big, and I got out of that. I then continued to pursue my music career. I traveled a lot, but nothing ever jumped off. I came back home to Illinois, and began a career in culinary. I had a son May 21, 2003, 4 days before my 25th Golden birthday. His name is DominiQuinn Edmund. He is the best thing that I ever did in my life. The joy of having him far surpasses EVERYTHING! I am married, my husband's name is Giovanni. My married name is Gonzalez. I am actually at a better place emotionally, spiritually, and physically, than I have ever been. I am blessed! I have done better for myself than I ever imagined. I did everything I intended to do; and then some. My life is wonderful, and I can't complain. I started my own business August 2005 and am having a blast! I also auditioned for American Idol this year. As of 4/1/07 I currently am seeking a new home on the East side of Aurora, ( I live on the West side right now) as I am running for district 131 school board for the 2008-2009 school year. he woman I am today. College I attempted to get a degree in music. Then went on to mass communication. Then went on to engineering/producing, and finally settled on a career in culinary. How about that. I had to be creative, and if I couldn't make music, then I said I will make cake! I am currently back in college, finishing up my culinary degree. I am going to be a pastry chef, or maybe even give back to my community, and be a home ec teacher. We'll see.... I've decided to be a home-ec teacher, teaching food and nutrition. After graduation December of 2005, I will be attending NIU in DeKalb to get my gen-ed degree in Dietics and Nutrition, so I can teach. My husband and I are in the process of purchasing back my grandfather's home. He built the home in Oswego for my grandmother back in the late 60's, but due to their divorce they sold the house. Since my grandfather's passing, 4 years ago, I feel it is my duty to get that house back in the family. We should be closing on it soon. I declined the offer with The Fudgery to be GM, but accepted a store manager position with Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins in Montgomery, IL. Workplace I currently work full time for the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) and part time for Aldi. I am head chair for the Activities/Homecoming Committee for the East Aurora Alumni Association. I am currently pursuing the founding of a fine arts boosters club, if the referendum passes next week on April 17th. I will be running for district 131 school board for the 2008-2009 school year.
