Shirley's Story

Grades one to eight were at St.Ladislaus School on Reeb Ave. I started at St.Mary's High School in German Village as a Freshman. I married a graduate of St. Mary's , Martin Tomsic , ten years my senior. We had two children - Joseph & Angela. I moved to California in 1978. Marty died January 2000. I currently live in Joshua Tree, California. My two children also attended St. Ladislaus Grade School. My husband helped with sports activities & bingo. I dedicated myself to Girl Scout Leader (5th,6th,&7th grades) for three years & volunteered at the sc...Expand for more
hool cafeteria & Spagetti Dinners (Yum !). What I enjoy the most in my senior years? Carpenter Work. I built a redwood fence in my back yard from scratch. All the boards, stain, 8X16 concrete blocks - it was fun! I've worked as a hairdresser. I attended Mount San Antonio Community College in Walnut, Ca. & graduated with an AS degree in Drug & Alcohol Counseling. I think in my senior years I have become less materialistic & more grounded in daily activities. I walk two miles a day, meditate, do yoga & love to play Mahjong. I am a Lithuanian Lady !
