After retirement, my husband Jim and I moved from Reno, Nevada to Mobile, Alabama. We were tired of the desert, cold winters and dry air . We moved to Mobile, Alabama in 2004, and it has been quite an experience. We moved into our house two months before Hurricane Ivan hit, and needless to say we weren't prepared for that adventure. Fortunately, we suffered very little damage. The only thing we lost in Ivan was a large oak tree that landed in the neighbor's yard. Not having been through a hurricane before, my husband panicked and made me pack what I could get into our car and flee at 2:00 am the morning Ivan hit. We were just ahead of the hurricane all the way to Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. I was very upset, because he had convinced me that every thing we had would be gone when we got back. Well, to make a long story short, we came home the next day after the hurricane and our house was not damaged. That is the last time I will flee from a Hurricane.
