Shirley's Story
After graduating from high school, I attended MHCC for two years and then on to OCE in Monmouth to receive my Bachelors degree in Education. I began teaching for the Gresham School District in 1979 and married Jim Geisler ('74) in 1979 as well.
We have two children, Jessica and Adam. Both are married. Jessica lives in Tacoma and she and her husband have given us two of the most beautiful grandchildren; Eliana, 3, and Lydia, 1. I get up there quite often! :). Adam lives in Beaverton with his wife Rashell. They've been married 2 years.
I retired from teaching in 2010, after 31 years in the Gresham/Barlow SD. I LOVE retirement. I'm very active in our church; leading worship and workin...Expand for more
g as Communication Director. I began taking guitar lessons after retirement and am greatly enjoying learning more and more. And mostly what I'm learning is that I have a LOT to learn!!
My parents passed away a few years ago. Mom in September of 2010 and dad in May 2011. I hate that part of life and miss them all the time. My sister and brothers live nearby and I enjoy all the times we can get together!
Jim and I travel quite a bit around Oregon. And a couple of times recently have ventured out of the country. In 2012 we went to Israel; and just this past April, 2015, we went to Greece.
I'm enjoying working with our committee in planning the 40th Reunion. Hope to see everyone there!!
