Shirley's Story
My story is David's story. We started dating at 16, married at 20. Were married almost 65 years when he died. We lived in Oak Cliff until 1985, except for the 2 years he worked in Milan, Italy (1975-1977). After he got his engineering degree (1980), we moved to Amarillo where he had a consulting business. The economy hit bottom in 1988 and he took a job in Madison, Wisconsin. As for as Texans are concerned, that's close to the end of the earth! I was not going to live there the rest of my life, so he took a job in Denver in 1990. We loved living at the foothills SW of Denver. Colorado loves Texan's money, but don't like them moving there! After we both lost our jobs, we moved back to Amarillo! Hey, we both liked living there! Wonderful climate! In 1996, we moved to Houston where he ran an office for the Beck Co...Expand for more
. I never thought I'd say it, but we loved living in Sugarland! He was transfered to Dallas in 2000.
Although we didn't want to move, we soon knew we were needed here. My mother and his father were getting to where they needed our help, and our daughter & grandson needed us too.
Most of our family, and lots of our friends still live in the Dallas area. We returned to our "home" church - Tyler St. United Methodist, in Oak Cliff.
I went to Amarillo College and almost got my associates degree in Accounting. I work for my cousin at Sala Air Conditioning in Oak Cliff.
If you have not driven by Sunset lately, where I grew up is now one of their parking lots!
Our daughter Donna, and grandson Christopher live in Arlington. Our son Darrel and his son Colton live in Lubbock.
I would love to reconnect with some classmates.
