Shirley's Story

Hello to all who visit my site. :) My husband and I have been married for 18 years and we live in Roseburg. My last name is Jaukkuri! We have one son who is a Jr. this year at Sutherlin High. My son Andrew lives at my old place out in Willis Creek with his wife and our Grandbaby. He works for Brotherton Gas. Co. and my Daughter Melissa lives in Eugene. She is a teacher at a private school in Corvallis. She was an Oregon Duck cheerleader for 4 years. GO DUCKS! I work at West School in Sutherlin and my husband teaches in Sutherlin too. Although I didn't graduate hugh school I did get my GED. I felt it was important to do this for my kids. so they would know how important I though education was. So far they have all done well for themselves. The most important things in my life next to Jesus Christ is my family and friends. I am very close to my sisters and my father, who all still live in Tenmile. I am the only rebel to move away. :) They act like Roseburg is too far. The things I do most for enjoyment are crafts and yardwork. We do alot of home impovement projects by ourselves too. I do love sports and you will find me at my sons games year around, but the thing I love to do most is enjoy nature. Float the river, go on hikes, go camping. Gods creations are amazing and I want to see them all in person. :) When I was i...Expand for more
n school I always wanted to fit in. Be someone else. Someone who was popular. I didn't have any self confidence and was always worried about what others thought of me. My mother drank alot at home, (no one kenw this at the time) and that made me very insecure. Not to mention I was skinny and plain and (flat chested) hahaha... anyways you know what I mean. :) So I married at age 17 and left school. I tried to come back, but then my mother died. I couldn't face anyone, and pulled further in my shell. I cared even more what people though of me. Sad but true! Today I am proud to say that is all behind me and I am a totally different person. The same in the sense that I am still a small town country girl who needs her family and friends, but my insecurities are now gone. I am ME. My past has helped mold me but it didn't hold me back. When I see you all now, I hope to think on the positives of High School, not the negatives. Not dwell on the whose cool and whose not list. And who cares who stood on Stud Wall. :) What makes you a stud, is your morals and values, not the notches in your belt. I look forward to seeing each of you someday and catching up. Seeing who you are now, not caring about who you were then. Not caring about your wealth, or posessions, but your heart and souls. :) With Gods Love, Shirley Neavoll ~ Jaukkuri
