Shirley's Story

Life It does not seem like it has been forty years since I graduated from Chamblee. I am married to a terrific man, actually he is my best friend. We will celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary in March. We have seven children and seven grandchildren. Our oldest son Chris is 38 and he and his wife have a son, Ian who is 4 and a daughter Rosa-Jane who is 6. It is really great that they live next door to us. Our oldest daughter Kristina is 36 and she and her husband have a son, William, age 9 and a daughter, Hanna, age 6. Our daughter Rachel is 32 and she and her husband have a son, Tyler, age 5 and a daughter, Haley, age 3. Our son Jon...Expand for more
athan is 26 and is a special ed. teacher in Athens. Our daughter Rebekah will be 23 this month and she and her husband have a daughter, Jaclyn Simone, age 2 months. Our son Joshua is 20 and our youngest son, Isaac, is 15. My husband and I started our own business in 1978, we refinish and build furniture. Actually I do not help so much in the business now since I am the assistant manager at our local Freds store. My husband is from Douglasville and I am from Hiawassee. We were able to move back to Hiawassee in 1984. I am fortunate in that I am now living on the farm where I was raised. I live next door to my parents which is really nice.
