Shirley Bell:

CLASS OF 1972
Arlington, TX

Shirley's Story

I only went to Sam Houston my senior year. I was very quiet and shy, so I didn't make many friends. Right after high school I married Ron Bell, who was in our senior class and went to Sam Houston all 4 years (plus an extra one to make up for all the time spent cleaning the parking lot at the old Sam Houston as punishment for smoking.) Ron joined the Navy and we left for Tennessee and we moved from one side of the country to the other. Ron and I are still together and madly in love. We have 4 children and 3 grandchildren (it hardly seems possible). We have been back in Texas for 3 years after spending the previous 13 years in Auburn, CA. nd house in 3 years. I guess it's a hobby because we keep doing it and then we move and never really get to enjoy the fruits of our labor. I retired from Placer County and worked in children's services. Ron is a minister at the Big Sandy Church of Christ and a professor for University of Phoenix. Any of you who remember him are probably shocked. He is a good guy and not at all "preachery." There are a lot of things I wish I had done in the the last 37 years. I am still wondering what I want to be when I grow up, and then I think I guess I am grown up and it's probably too late to do anything world changing. But the last 37 years have been great and I look forward to the next 37.
