Shirley's Story
Life
After HS graduation I went to Chapman College and receiver a BA in music plus teaching degree and started teaching band and choir in Jr. and Sr. highs. I married Bob,my still first husband, and we've been married 25 years. We have a son 19 (Freshman at MSU in Bozeman, Mt) and a daughter 16, Jr. at Delta HS in western Colorado where we've lived for 8 years. My husband has been a grocery clerk, a HS teacher and coach, principal, a stock broker and now teaches music at a k-5 school. I've taught in the inner city of LA, so. + cent. Calif., Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and lived in Oregon. After 18 years of teaching I switched careers. I'm a self employed financial advisor after leaving Prudential Financial. e people and the fact that I haven't taken the keys out of my car or locked my door in 8 years. With small town security comes small town politics...and sometimes I want to smack people up the side of their heads for their narrow perspectives. I do have some really great friends though...but they all grew up somewhere else. I like to cook and sew and I'm on the VERY ACTIVE high school booster board. My daughter is a super jock and always in the local paper. She holds a school record in track and has been a varsity basketball player since starting HS. Volleyball is her third sport and the coach expect her to be named all-conference. My son was successful in sports but did not have the right "in-your-face" personality that is crucial to be valued around here. He spent his energy in band and show choir. The neighboring town has an excellent community theater (again..this is a magnet area for retirees form Big Cities) and my son and husband are VERY active in the theater.
